Simon Rose was born in Derbyshire, England and now lives in Calgary, Alberta with his two children, dog and cat. He graduated from university with a degree in history and has lived in Canada since 1990. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature of West Redding, CT.
Simon is long time fan and avid reader of science fiction, comic books, history, fantasy and ancient mysteries. His first novel for young readers, The Alchemist's Portrait, an exciting time travel adventure, was published in 2003 and The Sorcerers Letterbox, another journey into history, this time to medieval England, followed in 2004. A third novel, The Clone Conspiracy, a science fiction thriller featuring secret experiments and evil scientists, was published in June 2005 and The Emerald Curse, set in the surrealistic world of comic books, appeared in July 2006. The Sorcerer's Letterbox was shortlisted for the Silver Birch, Diamond Willow and Golden Eagle Book Awards in Canada in 2005 and all four novels continue to gather great reviews.
Simon also offers a wide variety of presentations, workshops and author in residence programs for schools and libraries.
