Maud Lewis

Maud Lewis (1903-1970) was one of Canada's most celebrated folk artists. Although her hands were riddled with arthritis and she lived in abject poverty, she filled her tiny house in Nova Scotia with joyful paintings. People loved her style and would visit her house from all over to purchase her work. She is the subject of the film Maudie (2017), starring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke.
