Bernadette is having a hard time starting a new school year. Her best friend has moved away and now she has to deal with bossy teachers and food fights all by herself-and that's just at lunch! It's only when she makes three new best friends, Annie, Keisha and Megan, that she finds a way to survive the school lunch room-by forming the Lunch Bunch. Together the girls will plan a pirate birthday party, paint a mural to make someone happy and discover that everyone has a special talent-even if it doesn't belong in the school talent show!

Susan Glickman is a writer and a poet. She started writing about the adventures of Bernadette and her friends for her own children. She lives in Toronto, Ontario, with her husband, two children, one guinea pig and one dog.

Kirkus - January 1, 2009
"Bernadette is an original-imaginative, organized, moody, but resourceful... Poet and literary critic Glickman's first novel for children realistically captures elementary-school life with sympathy and humor. Allard's occasional line drawings show a diverse cast of characters and add to the appeal of this substantial chapter book."
Resource Links - December 1, 2008
"Glickman showcases a main character with loads of imagination and plotting that young students can easily relate to... Recommmended."
