Ever since he watched his little brother drown last summer, Dylan has felt like he's losing it. He can't shake the nightmares that plague him—dreams from which he wakes up screaming every night. Dylan takes a summer job at a remote wilderness hotel, hoping to leave his problems behind. But when he volunteers to help close up the resort for the winter, things only get worse. Edward, the hotel manager, seems to be out to get him. A freak snowstorm blocks the road to the resort, leaving them trapped for days. And Dylan keeps seeing a ghost that might be trying to send him a message—or maybe Dylan really is going crazy this time.

"Has a steady pace and intriguing mystery that will keep many students interested and guessing what will happen next...Would be ideal for struggling readers."
Reading Today Online - October 27, 2013
"A short chapter book that is easy to read and grabs readers’ attention from the very beginning. Readers will enjoy the mysterious and suspicious atmosphere within the story!"
Booklist Online - May 22, 2013
"The ever-reliable Orca Soundings line delivers another fast, breathless read ideal for reluctant readers...Rodman's economized prose is a pleasure to buzz through, and the finale incorporates the ghostly aspect of the story in a surprisingly haunting fashion."
Resource Links - April 1, 2013
"[The novel] is a credit to Rodman's ability to develop character and plot right out of the gate, and to maintain it for the duration of the story without seeming rushed or superficial."
CM Magazine - March 15, 2013
"Effortlessly falls into the format of short-length, high-interest...[with] a plot that is fast-paced and intense...Will resonate strongly with teenage boys...[and] provide all readers with their own (healthy) form of escape, through Rodman's highly engaging narrative."
